Work & Volunteer
There are lots of ways to gain new skills and experience at Lakeside Arts.
VOLUNTEERING / NOTTINGHAM ADVANTAGE AWARD
Each year there are a number of opportunities for students to volunteer on a one-off basis at Lakeside to help us deliver special events, exhibitions, conferences or festivals. For example, our Local History and Archaeology Day, Wheee! Festival or Chinese New Year.
In addition, we also run the Nottingham Advantage Award module ‘Creative Careers’. This year-long module offers students the chance to complete 30 hours of voluntary work across our programme, attend sessions with members of our team and learn more about working in the creative sector.

LAKESIDE ARTS & NOTTINGHAM NEW THEATRE CO-PRODUCTION PLACEMENTS
Since 2013, Lakeside has worked in partnership with Nottingham New Theatre (TNNT), the only entirely student-run theatre in England to deliver an intensive 4 week long professional development project run through the Easter vacation with performances during the first week of term. Past productions performed to capacity audiences of schools and the general public have included Lysistrata, Dr Faustus, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Blue Stockings and Dennis Kelly’s DNA.
In 2020, sadly we were unable to deliver this programme due to Covid-19, and given existing restrictions we won’t be able to run this again until 2022.
However, in 2020-21 we’ll be looking for opportunities to work creatively with New Theatre to deliver a different kind of project which can still provide professional support with direction, LX design, and digital capture.
Watch out for more information about this throughout the autumn on New Theatre and our website.
