Created by children from Rufford Primary and Nursery School, working with artist Jane Stockley, and children from Crabtree Farm Primary School working with artist Elaine Winter.

This exhibition comes from a wonderful collaboration between two local artists and two Nottingham primary schools, during the Creativity Collaboratives project. Following the success of this project, the artists undertook a short residency at both schools in autumn of 2024.

Residencies with creative practitioners can open up new ways for children, young people and teaching staff to express themselves creatively. For this exhibition, the young creatives were invited to explore art through the colour red.

Almost 400 children experimented with shape, pattern, texture, form and line, creating over 1000 unique pieces of art. The children were encouraged to express themselves individually, whilst championing the power of working collectively.

The colour red was deliberately chosen to bring some energy to the cold dark months at the end of winter.

Thank you to all the children and staff at both schools for their commitment and involvement in creating this exhibition.

Enjoy the exhibition and ask what does the colour red mean to you?
