No, this is a free drop-in event, with that in mind there will be some days and times that will be busier than others. Please note, that we will be running SEND (special educational needs & disability) friendly sessions on Wednesdays, 1pm-4pm.

On weekdays parking at Lakeside can be limited, where possible we recommend travelling via public transport, the University of Nottingham tram stop is just outside our Djanogly Gallery, so NET park and ride could be a great option.

During the week, we have two free car parks, these do get very busy, especially in the summer. There is also a pay and display car park, just up the hill on the University Park campus, ask at the security gate for directions, this car park is a 10-minute walk from Lakeside.

If you’re visiting us at the weekend then you can park in any of the car parks on University Park campus, for free.

Accessible parking is available outside Djanogly Gallery, on East Drive.

Mega Bunny and friends Egg Cat and Octopus will be taking over our Djanogly Gallery! Come and enjoy these inflatable, creative creatures, that will spark the imagination.

The exhibition is based in our Djanogly Gallery, which is the building that sits next to the traffic lights on University Boulevard, and beside the tram line. Look out for two big green inflatable eyes and you’ll know you’re in the right place!

As this is a free, non-ticketed event it is always difficult to predict just how many people will want to visit. There may be times when you have to queue and we will do our best to keep you updated when you arrive. We will have free craft activities to keep little ones entertained whilst you queue.

Yes, feel free to bring your buggy, we will have a buggy park that we would encourage you to use. Due to the nature of the space and exhibition, we will have to limit the number of buggies in Monster Fun at one time, so you may be asked to wait until we have space and capacity.

Toilets: Toilets, accessible toilets and baby changing facilities are all available in the Djanogly Gallery building.

Café: We have two cafés at Lakeside, one in the Djanogly Gallery and the other in the DH Lawrance Pavilion, next to the lake. We will have kid’s monster lunch boxes available, as well as themed cupcakes!

We will have SEND (special educational needs & disability) friendly sessions every Wednesday from 1pm-4pm. These sessions will have reduced capacity and additional resources to allow those with all types and ranges of disabilities to enjoy the Monster Fun exhibition. We understand that everyone might need something different, so we ask for your patience to allow everyone the chance to enjoy the exhibition.

Alongside this free, fun, family exhibition we will have:

• A colouring corner, as you queue so you can invent your own monster
• Making tables, with plasticine to build a creative creature
• A makers’ gallery, where the plasticine creatures will be displayed
• A Monster Fun Hide and Seek trail, which you can follow around the lake, pick up a trail sheet from the Djanogly Gallery or our Box Office.
• Make sure you get a picture with our giant monsters, in our Box Office.

Don’t forget we also have to wonderful surroundings of Highfields Park, where you can also enjoy the play park, mini golf, foot golf and the boating lake.
