Kate MccGwire is an internationally renowned British artist who works with natural materials – most notably ethically sourced birds’ feathers – to create extraordinary and compelling sculptures.
Featured in our 2023 group show Reimag(in)ing the Victorians, the artist returns to Lakeside Arts in this major solo exhibition.
It reveals her full command of sculptural scale, from gigantic serpentine forms and cascades of feathers gushing out of the gallery walls to precious, meticulously crafted objects beneath antique glass domes. Ravishingly seductive, MccGwire’s works also evoke feelings of unease as they simultaneously explore the dark underbelly of beauty.
