Join us for a concert by The Piatti Quartet, one of the most distinguished quartets of their generation. Prize winners of the 2015 Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition, they have performed in all of the major venues and festivals in the UK as well as concerts internationally.

Summer holidays inspired the composers in this concert. Webern’s ‘slow movement’ is the yearning of unrequited love as a 21-year old, while Mendelssohn at the same age captures the experience of visiting Scotland in 1829. The energetic, joyous melodies of Dvořák’s ‘American’ string quartet recall a happy summer spent with fellow Czechs in Iowa in 1893. Undiscovered quartet music led to the Piatti’s premiere recording of Irish composer Ina Boyle’s String Quartet of 1934.
