NATURAL BEHAVIOUR premiered at Battersea Arts Centre in London and The Lowry in Salford in June 2025. The production received the Achievement in Dance award at the UK Theatre Awards 2025 and was named The Guardian’s No. 1 Dance Show of 2025.

In this performance, Thick & Tight presents a distinctive mix of dance, satire, poetry and impersonation, bringing a hilarious and profound queer deconstruction of what it means for something to be ‘natural’ or ‘unnatural’.

Somewhere between a variety show and a biology essay comes alive, the show includes a line-up of two moths, a pantomime horse, the dust in Quentin Crisp’s room, some flies on the wall, and a lesbian seagull.

Co-directors Daniel Hay-Gordon and El Perry perform alongside an outstanding ensemble of dance artists: Annie Edwards (Candoco), Azara Meghie (Ray Young, Talawa), Luigi Nardone (BalletBoyz, Holly Blakey), Jahmarley Bachelor (Punchdrunk), and Corali Dance Company. The production’s design is by Tim Spooner, Pam Tait, Darren Evans and Nao Nagai.

Rich, thoughtful, ridiculous and quite wonderful… hugely poignant and hugely silly.”
