Hear how this unique river system evolved, the spread of early hunter-gatherers and the social, economic and landscape transformations associated with Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age farmers.

Rising in Biddulph Moor in Staffordshire, the River Trent flows for 210km towards its confluence with the Humber Estuary, forming a natural divide between the upland and lowland zones of Britain.

Dr David Knight, Head of Research and Dr Steve Malone, Senior Researcher at York Archaeology discuss this unique river system.
