Winner of a Lustrum Award at Edinburgh Fringe 2023, BIRD is a bold, contemporary dance piece exploring trauma, stigma, and survival.
Featuring high-energy Kathak dance and a specially commissioned live music score with tabla and cello by Jonathan Mayer, the work was sparked by a quiet, powerful question at a women’s community group: “What happens to women who run away from domestic abuse?” The nervousness in the woman’s voice inspired this searing performance. BIRD gives voice to those navigating fear, isolation, and the courage of starting again.
Curtain raiser by Manushi Dance Company: SAHELI.
The show will be followed by a Q&A.
