One of THE shows of Edinburgh 2024. A wildly theatrical, darkly comic, and deeply intimate reckoning with the myths and misconceptions of female madness.
This is a moving requiem for Leah’s grandmother Gwen, who was incarcerated for seeking independence in 1960s Australia. Created by Leah Shelton and directed by Olivier award-winning Ursula Martinez, this one-woman tour-de-force tears apart the labels used to control and undermine women through razor-sharp wit, raw storytelling, and unflinching performance.
Winner, Scotsman Fringe First & Mental Health Foundation Fringe Awards at Edinburgh Fringe 2024.
Artist Salon – post-show Q&A – Friday 3 October
Join performance artist Leah Shelton as she shares her journey, process and artistic philosophy of making intersectional feminist work.
Leah will talk about her past works, pay homage to mentors and collaborators, and unpack the process for the creation of BATSHIT in a friendly and informal gathering.
