Luminarium: Timisien

We ask that you join the queue shortly ahead of your booked timeslot (e.g 1.30pm). You do not need to join the queue well in advance of your timeslot.

If you are travelling to Lakeside Arts via car we recommend you aim to arrive in plenty of time to allow for parking, which is limited at Lakeside.

If you arrive ahead of your timeslot, we’ll ask you to wait before joining the queue. Please enjoy the park, stop off at one of our cafés or wander around the lake whilst you wait.

Yes, there will be an element of queuing but we aim to keep this to a minimum. Our ticket and entry system have been designed to ensure no one is queueing for longer than 30 minutes. However, you will be outside while waiting to enter the luminarium, so please come prepared based on the weather conditions.

Following the success of a new ticketing system introduced last year, there is just one ticket type, with entry time slots every 30 minutes between 11am-5pm.

We will ask you to join the queue shortly ahead of the timeslot you’ve purchased tickets for (e.g. 11.30am). We aim to get you into the luminarium no later than 20-30 minutes after the time stated on your ticket (and hopefully sooner than that). Essentially, every ticket is a priority ticket.

If you arrive ahead of your timeslot, we’ll ask you to wait before joining the queue. Please enjoy the park, stop off at one of our cafés or wander around the lake whilst you wait.

Entry is free for children under 18 months. However, tickets are required. These tickets are available to pre-book over the phone (0115 846 7777) and in-person via Lakeside’s Box Office, or can be gained upon entry to the Luminarium.

The one exception is tickets for our Baby & Parent session. Tickets for those under 18 months for this session can be booked online.

Luminarium: Timisien is fully wheelchair accessible. Mobility scooters are not allowed inside the luminarium but can be parked outside.

We will be holding two SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) sessions this year:

Quieter & Calm SEND Session: Tuesday 26 May, 10-11am

Louder & Active SEND Session: Wednesday 27 May, 10-11am

Visitors and/or carers of visitors with additional Access needs, particularly those who may experience difficulty queuing, are encouraged to make themselves known to staff at the entrance to the luminarium on the day. Our team will be able to assist you and can provide you with any relevant information.

A free ticket for a personal assistant/carer is available for any d/Deaf or disabled person. Please visit our Booking Tickets page for more information about personal assistant tickets.

Luminariums are highly visual installations that use colour and light, however those with a visual impairment are welcome to explore and enjoy the atmosphere and ambient soundscape.

Luminariums are not suitable for assistance dogs, so we ask that they remain outside, where we will happily look after them while you enjoy the experience. If it is not safe for you to enter the luminarium without your assistance dog, we will insist that your assistance dog wears shoes in order to enter, this is to avoid damage to the structure.

Visit duration is strictly 20 minutes. This allows you plenty of time to experience the luminarium to its fullest, whilst keeping the queuing time to a minimum, for those waiting to come in.

Yes, you will be asked to take your shoes off before entering the Luminarium, so make sure you’re wearing your best socks! You will leave your shoes in a specially designed show rack, which allows us to monitor how many people are in the Luminarium.

Yes! Tickets can be purchased on the day online or at our Box Office subject to availability. Please note, Box Office will be busy and we advise booking early to avoid disappointment.

Yes, there are six blue badge parking spaces in the oval car park adjacent to Lakeside’s DH Lawrence Pavilion. There are a further four blue badge parking spaces available on East Drive outside the Djanogly Gallery and University of Nottingham Museum.

No, pushchairs must be left in our dedicated secure area, which you will be directed to by one of our front-of-house team.

We will continue as normal. In the case of extreme weather conditions, such as heavy downpours or high winds, we may make the decision to close the luminarium for a brief period. You will be notified of any changes or cancellations.

If you do need to change your timeslot, please call our Box Office on 0115 846 7777 in advance. We cannot guarantee you will be able to get the slot you want and we cannot swap tickets on the day. If you miss your timeslot we unfortunately cannot offer a swap or refund.
