Discovering the invisible: photography in art and science Since the invention of photography, artists and scientists have engaged with forms of photography to render visible that which evades the naked eye. Each practice experiments with materials and processes as a way of bringing to sight new phenomena and modes of perception. Visualisation is central to enquiries in these disciplines in a way that raises important questions about how meaning occurs and the place of aesthetics. Using the Alchemy exhibition as its starting point, this Study Day will explore the issues that arise from the parallel use of photography in art and science. Speakers include the internationally renowned Catalan artist, lecturer and curator Joan Fontcuberta. For all these events please book in advance by calling the Box Office on 0115 846 7777.
