CHORALE FOR THE CAULDRONS OF HELL
Presented by COMA (Contemporary Music for Amateurs) Brian Wilshere: Five Greek Songs Frederic Rzewski: Spoils Stephen Montague: Kristallnacht (UK premiere) Stephen Montague: Snowscape Stephen Montague: Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell In November 1973 the composer Stephen Montague, while visiting Auschwitz, became trapped in the camp and was forced to spend a night alone there. Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell was inspired by this deeply unsettling experience. To commemorate National Holocaust day, an allcomers ensemble will be performing this powerful and moving work. WHY NOT TAKE PART IN THE PERFORMANCE? Saturday 27 January 12 noon-9.30pm (including performance) FREE! Come and play or sing in Stephen Montague’s recent work Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell. This event is open to all instrumentalists of any level of technical ability, although a basic ability to read music will be necessary. All instruments can be catered for, and there are additional parts for female voices. During the day string players will also be rehearsing and performing Stephen Montague’s Snowscape.
