A unique spread of partners, the Poetry Society UK, Nottingham Poetry Society and the British Place Names Society (based at Nottingham University) offer a heady mix of poets, poems and ideas about the crucial importance of “place” to poetry: including places and poems local to Nottingham. Three of Britain’s leading poets ask why poets name places in poems, why locality is important in poetry from Welsh lays and Homeric epic to Little Gidding. They illustrate their discussion by reading poems, by themselves and other poets, and turn to the audience to hear their views. PLEASE NOTE Concession: £6 full day, £4 reading only (Concession including Poetry Society Uk/Nottingham members and Nottingham University Students.
