Open to dance practitioners and teachers, this is an opportunity to learn basic skills, style and approaches to South East Asian Classical dance. Led by Maziah Omar, the session will explore the specifics of body posture and alignment which differentiate this style from other Asian dance forms, as well as making a short piece of dance. NUSANTARA RESIDENCY For two weeks in March, Maziah Omar, artistic director of the Nusantara music and dance ensemble based in Nottingham will be working with dancers trained in South east Asian classical and contemporary dance forms to develop a new dance language which melds traditional form with contemporary dance. Lakeside hopes to be able to premiere Nusantara's new work in November. Whilst in residence, Maziah is also finding time to work with some of Lakeside's own community groups including the Youth Theatre and Tiny Fingers, Tiny Toes.
