Since winning first prize in the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 1999, The Kungsbacka Trio has appeared at major festivals and venues throughout Europe and has gained a reputation as one of the most outstanding ensembles of their generation. In this concert they join Sinfonia Viva and Nottingham-born conductor James Lowe for an exciting programme of contrasts from the elegance of Boccherini and grandeur of Mozart's Symphony No. 29 to the drama of Haydn's operatic music and Martinu's rarely performed Concertino. Schnittke's Moz-art a la Haydn plays tribute to the two composers with many references and allusions to the styles of them both.
