A double-bill of critically acclaimed new dance and music with work by Jerwood Award winners Matthew Hawkins and Protein Dance. Raft of Reasons is a pure dance duet by determined individualist Matthew Hawkins for himself and ex-Royal Ballet colleague Jennifer Jackson, with costumes by Parisian costumier Pearl. The work investigates resonances held in the body over a long period of time. I Close My Eyes is choreographed by Luca Silvestrini (co-artistic Director of Protein Dance). Working with a large bed and the memories and dreams of five people, it uses a blend of drama and humour to explore the absurdity of everyday life. This is dance theatre that takes the audience to very familiar places - in an extraordinary way. The company of seven outstanding mature professional dancers, who have worked with some of the best dance companies in the UK (Rambert, The Royal Ballet, Michael Clark as well as West End Musicals), will provide an entertaining and original evening that will challenge your perceptions of contemporary dance. "observant and deft entertainment…a rampantly amusing creation about senility, incontinence, inconvenient libido and looking ridiculous" The Telegraph "The sight of Tom Yang surfing round the stage on a bath towel while singing I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside has to be one of the year's defining dance images" The Guardian
