Mozart String Quintet in C minor K406 Dvorak Terzetto for two violins and viola in C major Op.74 Martinu Three Madrigals for violin and viola H313 Beethoven String Quintet in C Op.29 Ernst Kovacic’s performances convey an acute musical intelligence, persuasive quality combined with high-octane energy. Ernst has appeared as a soloist with the UK’s leading orchestras, is a regular collaborator with the London Mozart Players and has made many appearances at international festivals. Dvorak’s Terzetto was written at the height of his career. It is one of only two works he wrote for the combination of 2 violins and viola and displays his masterful scoring for strings, evident in his symphonies. Martinu’s love affair with madrigals began with a performance of works by Byrd and Gibbons given in Prague in 1922 by The English Singers. His eclectic response to the form includes the Three Madrigals, premiered in New York in 1948, with shades of Bach and Vivaldi. "He has a unique personal affinity for his instrument and for music…” The Daily Telegraph "Kovacic’s playing…was thoroughly persuasive, a fascinating fusion of virtuosity, expressive purpose and bristling musical character..." The Daily Telegraph "Virtuosos like Ernst Kovacic are sadly a rarity" The Independent
