Schubert Quartettsatz in C minor D703 Dvorak String Quartet No.9 in D minor Puccini String Quartet Crisantemi Haydn String Quartet in C major Op.76 No.3 Kaiserquartet This concert gives you the opportunity to hear Puccini’s Crisantem. Written in one evening, this amazing work distils the most poignant, haunting material from Puccini's opera Manon Lescaut, into a short elegiac work for string quartet. Similarly brief, Schubert’s turbulent Quartettsatz is a terse, fragmentary work from 1820. Haydn's quartets of the 1790s written whilst working for Salomon in London, have a ‘public’ and showy style, with a great number of themes and contrasts as the exubrant Op.76 No.3 amply demonstrates.
