Hip hop-influenced pianist Robert Glasper follows the likes of McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock as the Blue Note label’s latest piano star to push the classic trio format into uncharted territory. A loose-limbed and expressive soloist, Glasper incorporates fractured and insistent melodic loops and explosive improvising into his heavily rhythmic style. Following a four-day run of packed houses at London’s Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in May, Robert Glasper and his trio - featuring Earl Travis on bass and Mark Colenburg on drums – return to the UK to play a special run of shows across the country. “The music is top drawer, playfully experimental and oozing confidence.” Financial Times
