Andrew Foster-Williams is better known to Lakeside audiences for his appearances with Opera North. Andrew studied at and was recently made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. Hugo Wolf, one of the many half-crazed geniuses of the Viennese fin-de-siècle, produced volumes of songs during the 1880s and 90s which have scarcely ever been equalled. And although Wolf and Brahms were polar opposites, it is the privilege of posterity to juxtapose the lyric worlds of each without fear of friction. The light pastoral songs of Vaughan Williams and Keel conclude this programme.
