Ofer Falk, violin Rafael Todes, violin Dorothea Vogel, viola Katherine Jenkinson, cello BEETHOVEN String Quartet in G, Op.18 No.2 Anthony PAYNE String Quartet No.2 BEETHOVEN String Quartet in C, Op.59 No.3 (Razumovsky) Anthony Payne’s new string quartet commissioned for the Allegri String Quartet received enthusiastic reviews following its premiere in December. The concert opens with Beethoven’s G major Opus 18 quartet, a witty work reminiscent of Haydn’s high spirited quartets. By contrast, the third of the ‘Razumovsky’ quartets written in 1806 is more harmonically complex and challenging, but ends with a triumphant finale. The concert finishes at approximately 9.05pm 6.45pm Pre-concert talk by Anthony Payne
