Antti Tikkanen, violin Minna Pensola, violin Atte Kilpeläinen, viola Tomas Djupsjöbacka, cello DUTILLEUX Ainsi la nuit HAYDN String Quartet in C, Op.76/3 ‘Emperor’ BEETHOVEN String Quartet in F, Op.135 The dynamic young Finnish string quartet Meta4 won 1st Prize at the International Shostakovich Quartet Competition in Moscow in 2004 and at the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna in 2007. They were selected as BBC New Generation Artists for 2008-2010. Henri Dutilleux was influenced by Proust’s ideas of memory, his string quartet Ainsi la nuit written in 1976 includes four ‘parantheses’ that provide recollections of previous musical material or foreshadow fragments heard later in the work. The concert finishes at approximately 9.05pm
