Chris Hoggarth Patrick Burnett, conductors MOZART Overture to Lucio Silla SIBELIUS Pelléas et Mélisande STRAVINSKY Suites No.s 1 &2 DVORÁK Symphony No. 7 Originally written for the opening of Milan’s carnival season in 1773, Mozart’s Overture to Lucio Silla is a bold and vibrant start to this evening’s oncert. As the final chords are played, the cene is set for young lovers Pélleas and Mélisande in what is some of Sibelius’ most compelling incidental music. Suites Nos 1 & 2 by Stravinsky are high spirited and energetic, allowing sufficient breathing space before Dvorák’s emotionally turbulent 7th Symphony. The concert finishes at approximately 9.15pm
