THIS EVENT TOOK PLACE IN 2010 William Howard, piano Simon Blendis, violin Douglas Paterson, viola Jane Salmon, cello SCHUBERT String Trio in B flat D471 ENESCU Piano Quartet No.1 SCHUMANN Piano Quartet in E flat, Op.47 The Schubert Ensemble is known for its inspired programming choices and in this concert they perform the rarely heard First Piano Quartet by Romanian composer and violin virtuoso George Enescu written in 1909 at the age of 28. “...they gave a performance so forthright and passionate that at times it sounded as if a chamber orchestra were playing.
