Accompanying these seminal works are David Bedford’s magical Sea and Sky and Golden Hill, Adam Gorb’s riotous Awayday and Nigel Clarke’s Fanfares and Celebrations. Written for the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Military School of Music, Clarke’s majestic work skilfully combines traditional bugle calls and other well-known tunes in a triumphant tribute. The second concert in this series, focusing on the music of Gustav Holst and Gordon Jacob, will take place on Sunday 8 March 2009.
