THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2008 JOHN ETHERIDGE, GUITAR ARILD ANDERSEN, BASS JOHN MARSHALL, DRUMS Described by John Fordham as Etheridge’s super group, virtuoso British guitarist John Etheridge’s trio with Norwegian double bass legend Arild Anderson and British drummer John Marshall promises a night of sophisticated, highly creative improvisation. John Etheridge rightly enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the jazz world and has been described by Pat Metheny as, ‘one of the best guitarists in the world’. He is a prodigiously gifted and creative player whose approach to music can only be described as 'eclectic' as he refuses to accommodate or even acknowledge artificial musical boundaries. The Trio’s recent live album ‘In House’ was recently voted ‘guitar album of the year’ by Jazzwise magazine. ‘In the company of such great musicians as bass virtuoso Arild Anderson and drum legend John Marshall, Etheridge gives a masterclass in the art of contemporary guitar playing’ Jazz UK ‘Terrific guitar-led power trio, with Etheridge sounding like everything from Clapton to Terje Rypdal, and bassist Andersen monumental beneath.’ John Fordham, The Guardian
