THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2008 Christoph Eggner, piano Georg Eggner, violin Florian Eggner, cello BEETHOVEN Piano Trio in E flat, Op.1 No.1 DEBUSSY Piano Trio in G ARENSKY Piano Trio No.1 in D minor, Op.32 The Eggner Trio was founded in 1997 by the three brothers Christoph, Georg and Florian Eggner. In 1999 the Viennese musicians won First Prize in the International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach and captured the attention of the international musical world in 2003 winning First Prize in the prestigious Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. This was followed by highly acclaimed performances in the ‘Rising Stars’ concert hall circuit throughout Europe. The concert finishes at approximately 9.10pm. 'The explosive start to op. 70 no.1 sets the tone for the Eggners' intense, dramatic and strikingly detailed reading, combining first-class individual contributions with impeccable ensemble und unanimity of interpretative approach. The clarity of pianist Christoph's articulation is especially remarkable, as are also the colourful lyricism, warm tone and persuasive phrasing of this brothers' playing. All three combine to achieve that aura of timelessness that characterises the expressive central movement and their playing is unfailing perceptive throughout, spawning new musical insights and a wide range of contrasting emotions.' - The Strad 9/2008
