THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2008 András Keller, violin Magnus Johnston, violin Andrea Hallam, violin/viola Susan Knight, viola Louise Hopkins, cello Bartholomew LaFollette, cello DVOØÁK Selection of the Cypresses Quartets KODÁLY Duo for Violin and Cello TCHAIKOVSKY Souvenir de Florence Winners of the chamber music category of the 2007 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, IMS Prussia Cove makes a welcome return to Lakeside. The ensemble combines internationally renowned musicians with emerging young artists. Dvoøák gave the title ‘Cypresses’ or ‘Echoes of Songs’ to a group of songs written for and which he later transcribed as 12 lyrical string quartets. Kodály’s Duo for Violin and Cello is a full of passionate Hungarian flair and drama. The concert ends with the exuberant, sparkling sextet Souvenir de Florence written in 1890 as a memory of Tchaikovsky’s visit to Florence. The concert finishes at approximately 9.15pm
