THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2008 by award-winning playwright Joel Horwood A hot new play fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Set on a sweltering summer’s day on the eve of the last GCSE exam, I Caught Crabs in Walberswick takes an explosive and contemporary look at teenage life. Best mates Fitz and Wheeler are fishing for crabs in sleepy Walberswick when they are ambushed by Dani, the fittest girl on the beach. So begins 24 hours that will change the lives of the three sixteen-year-olds forever. Wheeler is a high-flying comprehensive kid destined for university, football-mad Fitz is struggling to cope with his dysfunctional father and posh-girl Daniella feels misunderstood by her mum…all three are looking for some action. Joel Horwood’s writing fizzes with energy, warmth and wit….anyone with a teenager in their life will recognise the real-life humour and hormonal hang-ups of the three characters Fitz, Wheeler and Dani.
