THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2007 CHARLES LINEHAN COMPANY (UK) Former choreographer in residence at The Place (London), Charles Linehan’s work is uncluttered and lyrical, renowned for its attention to detail in the relationship between movement, light and sound. This is Charles Linehan Company’s first visit to Nottingham with a double bill including a newly commissioned piece. HAPPY DAYS Running on an undercurrent of emotional charge, Happy Days is inspired by the music of composer Jim O’Rourke (Sonic Youth). The piece draws the listener under the spell of the music in which an acoustic guitar and electronic soundscape very gradually increase in intensity. MEASURE, DISTANCE, SPACE (WORLD PREMIERE) Ideas of transformation, processes of reduction and expansion, the distilled and the magnified, lie at the heart of this new work and are played out in the relationship between the performers, the light and the music.
