Viking Activity Days: Home Life
Saturday 13 January, 11am-4pm
Across Djanogly Gallery, University of Nottingham Museum, Angear Visitor Centre and Performing Arts Studio
Free, just drop in
Join Einar and Thorkatla of Blueaxe Reproductions to learn about different aspects of Viking life. Take part in a wide variety of activities including handicrafts, reading and inscribing Viking runes, games and tell your own saga. Handling sessions will also give you the opportunity to handle replica Viking artefacts like those on display in our exhibitions. See what the artefacts would have looked like when new and then find them in the exhibitions to see what they look like after 1,000 years buried in the ground.
Witness the types of crafts that Vikings did at home. Learn about Viking storytelling and poetry, and maybe even tell your own saga. Through replica artefacts see and feel what the objects on display in Viking: Rediscover the Legend would have been like in the Viking Age, and ask our experts all your Viking-related questions. Suitable for all.
Organised and supported by Bringing Vikings back to the East Midlands in collaboration with the University of Nottingham Museum. Bringing Vikings back to the East Midlands is funded by the AHRC and run by the University of Nottingham’s The Centre for the Study of the Viking Age.
