Dinosaurs in Wonderland: Victorian Artists and the Depiction of Extinct Animals
Part of a series of free hour-long talks with professional palaeontologists, connected to and inspired by the Dinosaurs of China: Ground Shakers to Feathered Flyers exhibition.
In the nineteenth century, artists had to get to grips with extinct animals for the first time – with artists often walking a fine line between fact and fiction. As this talk by Richard Fallon will demonstrate, one wrong move could turn sober science into children’s entertainment.
