This exhibition displays the work of the three Gallery Art Groups where young people aged 8-18 make artwork influenced by exhibitions here at Lakeside. This year, inspired by the sculptures in the Elisabeth Frink exhibition, each member of the group designed their own maquette. The groups were given a brief to design a sculpture for Highfields Park that reflected their experiences of Nottingham Lakeside Arts and the surrounding parkland. These were then put to an online vote and the winners from each group were made into the large sculptures which are displayed here. The group has enjoyed the opportunity to work together collaboratively to make the winning sculptures.
We have also experimented with many varieties of print-making, taking inspiration from the recent David Jones exhibition and especially his art influenced by myths and legends. The group have enjoyed learning new printmaking skills and making up their own myths and legends.
