Richard Janes returns to introduce a second class to bronze casting, once again inspired by Elisabeth Frink. Following a detailed look at Frink’s working methods, you will explore modelling techniques, including working with plaster and carving tools to create your own relief sculpture. These models will then be sand cast into bronze at a local foundry. The final session will involve finishing and patinating the Bronze sculptures. All tools will be provided. There will be some use of power tools and chemicals.

Feedback from previous course attendees:

“ The teacher was really great, full of knowledge and energy. Going through the exhibition and then learning the process behind Frink’s work was really interesting. “

“Had such a lot of fun. Everyone in the class produced something totally different and every week was extremely difficult to get my head round as well as being very rewarding and exciting!”

“This was a marvellous opportunity to create a real work of art in a short space of time; a fascinating insight into how sculptures are created. Inspired me to try more work with plaster”

“Excellent course. I was very nervous about trying a new experience. I am glad I completed the course. Thank you very much.”
