Beethoven String Quartet in C minor, Op. 18 No.4
Prokofiev String Quartet No.2
Smetana String Quartet No.1 'From My Life'

Since its success at the ARD International Competition in 2012 at which the Armida Quartet took First Prize, the Audience Prize and six other special awards, the career of this Berlin string quartet has developed sensationally. The Quartet gave its BBC Proms debut in 2016 and as ECHO ‘Rising Stars’ in 2017 performed 22 concerts across Europe.

Works by Beethoven and Smetana bookend Prokofiev’s String Quartet No.2. Prokofiev based his quartet on Kabardino-Balkar (North Caucasus, Russia) folk idioms, using not only the melodies but imitating the sonority of the traditional plucked and percussion instruments.

1 hour 40 minutes including interval.
