The works in this concert were composed in the last forty years including Arvo Pärt’s haunting Summa and Gian Carlo Menotti’s gorgeous but rarely performed Cantilena and Scherzo. University of Nottingham alumnus Graham Fitkin returns to perform recently composed works for solo piano alongside Recur and String, both composed for the Sacconi String Quartet. The Sacconi’s recording of Fitkin’s string quartets released in 2017 has received glowing reviews and this evening’s concert is an opportunity to enjoy the breathless energy and exuberance that inhabits Fitkin’s music.

1 hour 50 minutes including interval.
