Irish/Manx quintet Ímar are Glasgow’s hottest new folk group. Formed in 2016 and already receiving plaudits for their album Afterlight and main stage performances in UK and European festivals, the line-up features members of Mànran, RURA, Talisk and Barrule: Adam Brown (bodhrán), Adam Rhodes (bouzouki), Mohsen Amini (concertina), Ryan Murphy (uilleann pipes) and Tomás Callister (fiddle). Ímar’s unmistakable synergy centres on the overlapping cultural heritage between Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man. All three places once shared the same Gaelic language, and a similar kinship endures between their musical traditions.
