The more we read and hear about refugees, it seems we understand and relate to their experience less. Fuga Perpetua - musical terms translated together as ‘always running’, the condition of refugees unable to return but compelled to move on - combines live music, sound recordings, visual projections and movement to create an immersive environment. As a ‘storytelling without words’, we are invited to relate to refugees through our senses of hearing and sight, intuition and imagination, crossing the border between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
