The Grammy Award nominated New Orleans’ trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah makes his Lakeside debut with his brilliant seven-piece band direct from the USA.

Descending from a long line of New Orleans’ trumpet players and mentored by his uncle Donald Harrison Jr (alumnus of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers), Christian Scott brings an exciting new sound and approach to jazz.  Christian’s international recording debut, Rewind That was called ‘arguably the most remarkable premiere the genre has seen in the last decade’ by Billboard Magazine and since 2002 he has released seven critically acclaimed studio recordings and two live albums. A highly inventive musician, Christian is one of the progenitors of ‘Stretch Music’, a concept that attempts to stretch jazz’s rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass as many other musical forms, languages and cultures as possible. He experiments with ways of making sounds on the trumpet and has even developed a revolutionary signature line of brass instruments.

Christian is also dedicated to a number of causes that positively impact communities which has earned him a place in Ebony Magazine’s 30 Young Leaders Under 30. His family’s not-for-profit organization, Guardians Institute, located in New Orleans’ 9th Ward, is dedicated to reading and fiscal literacy, cultural retention and a firm commitment to the participation of community elders and artists in uplifting and supporting the youth in underserved areas of New Orleans.

A phenomenal instrumentalist and a household name in the USA, this is an amazing opportunity for Lakeside audiences to hear this brilliant musician and his band live!
