Nominated for the Songlines Best Newcomer Award earlier this year, Olcay Bayir is an exciting new artist in world music. Born in the Kurdish region of Southern Turkey, Olay Bayir moved to London to study classical singing, then formed a band to explore traditional music spanning the Western borders of Asia and Eastern Europe's Mediterranean coast. On her stunning debut album 'Neva/Harmony', her Western training collides perfectly with her passion for the rich musical heritage and love stories of her Anatolian homeland.

Her debut is an elegant and gently exquisite set, including Albanian, Armenian, Balkan and Kurdish songs accompanied by clarinet, violin and saz (Turkish lute)
