Gluck Orfeo and Euridice: Overture and dance of the blessed spirits

Haydn Cello Concerto in C

Pärt Tabula Rasa

Stravinsky Danses concertantes

This performance will last 1 hour 40 minutes including interval

The first university concert of the academic year provides solo spotlights for talented student musicians. Fourth-year medical student Laura Elliott is the soloist performing Haydn's C major Cello Concerto. Estonian composer Arvo Pärt's Tabula rasa for two solo violins, prepared piano and chamber orchestra is one of his earliest works in the 'tintinnabuli' style in which simple triads emulate the sound of bells. Stravinsky's charming and witty Danses concertantes ends the concert.
