Viking: Rediscover the Legend Exhibition Talks

A series of free talks and handling sessions that focuses on current archaeological work. These talks allow professional archaeologists, related specialists and community groups to share their exciting work with us as it is happening and include regional, national and international projects.

Dr. Andrew Woods, Senior Curator, Yorkshire Museum

Hoards are some of the clearest and most spectacular remnants of the Viking presence in Britain. A group of seven hoards will be displayed in the exhibition ‘Viking: Rediscover the Legend’, one of the largest collections of Viking silver ever displayed. This talk will interpret the silver and coinage that they contain, using them to argue that the Vikings transformed Britain.
