Tracey Holland’s work incorporates photography, assemblage and installation. This new work, commissioned specially for the Djanogly Art Gallery, consists of a three-screen video projection alongside a series of projected ‘still’ images. Resurrection Stories continues the artist’s exploration of recurrent themes in mythology which, continually reworked and adapted, transcend time and place and speak of unchanging and inescapable truths about the human condition. Fascinated by the psychological and biological origins of these myths, her work references natural phenomena, scientific paraphernalia and medical imaging. Visually lavish and multi-layered, Resurrection Stories taps a rich and elemental vein of mythology relating to our spiritual journeys, metamorphosis and rebirth.
