THIS EXHIBITION TOOK PLACE IN 2008 Monday - Saturday 11:00am - 5:00pm Sun/Bank Holidays 12:00pm - 4:00pm Coinciding with the Beijing Olympics, New Middle Kingdom brings to Nottingham an exhibition of recent work by a group of contemporary Chinese artists whose work responds in one way or another to the rapid economic and social changes which are remapping the face of China. Featuring photography, painting, film and sculpture drawn largely from the collection of The Red Mansion Foundation the artists address issues relating to the loss of individualism, rampant industrial progress and the changing face of the urban landscape. The Red Mansion Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which promotes artistic exchange between China and Great Britain through exhibitions, exchange programmes, publications and the Red Mansion Art Prize. It houses the best of Chinese visual art within a 4,500 sq ft space in its gallery at 46 Portland Place London New Middle Kingdom has been curated by Anthony Francis, winner of one of the Red Mansion Art Prizes in 2007.
