HAYDN String Quartet in A, Op.20 No.6 SZYMANOWSKI String Quartet No.2, Op.56 BEETHOVEN String Quartet No.127 in E flat The University’s String Quartet-in-Residence returns with a programme which includes Haydn’s String Quartet in A, Op.20 No.6 which featured in Vikram Seth’s novel An Equal Music. Szymanowski’s Second Quartet opens with shades of Ravel in its luscious mysticism but its final movements incorporate Polish folk music in a style reminiscent of Bartók. The programme finishes with the first of Beethoven’s late great string quartets. 6.45pm Pre-concert talk by Dr Philip Weller
