Former Associate Artist of the Royal Opera House, choreographer Cathy Marston presents her unique blend of classical and contemporary dance in a stunning triple bill combining music, literature, visual art and fashion. 'before the tempest? after the storm' draws you into a mythological world where Marston imagines the pre and post story of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, lyrically incorporating extracts from Ovid and W H Auden. Inspired by a trip to Cuba (commissioned by Channel 4 short films), the World Premiere of Marston’s Arcana, draws on Afro-Cuban folklore music, presenting a vibrant fusion of colour and passion. In an upbeat and sensual play on rhythm and movement, the dancers are set alight with dazzling costumes by award-winning fashion designer, Bora Aksu. Originally created for dancers of the Royal Ballet, Traces presents a dance soap opera of emotions, bringing alive the music of Yann Tierson, composer of the score for Amelie.
