DanceXchange’s resident company Bare Bones presents a brand new dance show, Bare Bones for Children, created specifically for children aged 6-10 years and their families. Bare Bones for Children unites the talents of Will Tuckett of The Royal Ballet and Enrique Cabrera of the leading Spanish dance company for children Aracaladanza, to produce a magical and entertaining double bill of dance for young audiences. This a unique opportunity to see two contrasting yet complimentary pieces, danced by a passionate and versatile company of five dancers. Performed ‘in-the-round’ with the audience on all four sides, this is an excitingly up-close and interactive experience where you are just a step away from the action. Set to an original sound score, Cabrera’s new work Any Which Way is an enchanting high-energy and abstract piece that sees the dancers moving in, around, through and over a landscape of red stools. Playing with light, the dancers travel with torches to illuminate their way through this spellbinding and mystical journey. The Firebird is Tuckett’s new creation, and is a retelling of the classic tale, set to the famous Stravinsky score. With elaborate costumes and intricate choreography, this is a captivating performance full of colour and invention. Young audience members get the chance to step into character, take part in the piece and help the performers to tell the tale. A Master of Ceremonies introduces the dancers, characters and the pieces and also leads an interactive break with the children between each work.
