Lunchtime Talks: Propaganda Online

The propaganda posters produced by the Central Telegraph Agency in Moscow, played in important role in distributing news during the war, and were a powerful tool in boosting morale. Today their subject matter and messages stimulate questions about the ways in which propaganda operates visually and textually and whether propaganda can claim to be art. Cyntha Marsh, Emeritus Professor of Russian Drama and Literature, discusses the development of an innovative online exhibition showcasing the University's collection of Soviet war posters. Places are limited so please book in advance with the Box Office on 0115 846 7777.
