Empowering The Object.
A practical and playful master class in the techniques of object theatre with Sean Myatt. A workshop about why things move in the way they do, and how, knowing about this helps the puppeteer and other stage practitioners to express ideas more successfully to an audience. “The elements which lie behind our vocabulary of movement are quite easy to identify – responses to gravity, the need to move from place to place, tension patterns and changes in movement tempo linked to emotions like fear or pleasure." The workshop will be looking at how an object may be otherwise perceived by a viewer, and its narrative potential. Sean has had 20 years experience as a puppeteer working with such companies as Philippe Genty in France. Currently lecturing at Nottingham Trent University in theatre design and specialising in object theatre and material play. All levels of ability and experience are welcome. Suitable for ages 16+.
