CRIMSON GOLD

WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES DIR JAFAR PANAHI IRAN 2003 (1HR 36MINS) WITH HOSSAIN EMADEDDIN, POURANG NAKHAEL, AZITA RAYEJI Abbas Kiarostami was inspired to write this script by newspaper accounts of a thief who, after being trapped during a robbery, killed the store’s manager and himself. This is exactly what happens in the first scene of this fourth feature by Jafar Panahi (The White Balloon, The Circle). After this, the film details the circumstances leading up to the crime and focuses on Hussein, a taciturn pizza delivery-man who’s increasingly disturbed by the gulf between his humble world and that of the rich people who order his pizzas. Presented in association with The University of Nottingham’s Centre for Continuing Education.
